' Loved the book, had to get the rest of the series.

' Great start to a good series ' - Sheila, it made me want to read more about the lords of the underworld. If you like Kresley Cole,you will love Gena Showalter. ' This was the first Paranormal romance that I had ever read and is now a forever love. I think I found a new series to keep me occupied. (i'm read on indonesian subtitle) can't wait to read the darkest kiss. I loved the Lords and their daily struggles against their demons and loved that Ashlyn had broken the curse of Maddox and stay with him at the end. ' I just now finished reading this book, and I must say that I loved the book, the story was fun and sexy. ' i like the story line, looking forward to the second book ' - fabby, ' Read half of it, got a bit to grossed to finish it though. ' it was a slow read for me I got 8 more ' - Patrice, (I giggle at ridiculousness in sex scenes, so sue me.) ' - Leigh, ' The entirety of character development consisted of it's magic / it's love. I am intrigued though and will definitely move onto the next books! ' - Samie, It seemed to kinda drag in the beginning and I didn't find myself getting into it until about 2/3rds of the way through. ' This book may have suffered from First Book Syndrome. ' Slightly higher than 4 stars, but can't bump it to a 5. (audiobook, excellent quality Read By Max Bellmore) ' - Jillian, Caught and held my interest all the way through the book. ' Great first book in a series, love all the characters. Maybe some time, I come back to this book and I'll see it in a different light, but right now, I didn't like it. ' I know that this is a popular series and Gena Showalter's writing is very good, but I just never found any of these characters to be either believable or even likable. Too bad because I did think she had a good idea going with the characters. It basically drove me nuts by the end of the novel. I was really annoyed by the writing style of the author who tended to use one word sentences for all emotions.

' I thought the author did a good job creating an interesting world and characters, but I will not be going any further in the series. That's all u can say.lol if you haven't read this book so it now ' - Stephanie, It is a continuing series, so I may continue on to see if I can dive in to the private hells of Pain, Disease, Death, Promiscuity, and Wrath further since I did think the interaction between these lords/demons was interesting. Maddox looks better on the cover and should just sit and look pretty versus talking since he speaks 'caveman' most of the time. ' I did not get in to this as much as I thought I would. However i will read the rest of series hoping for improvement.
