Chimada was utterly interested in taking the position of the class monitor but the culture denied her the right owing to her gender the boy took the position. However, Chimada emerged top and the second position was attained by a boy who never was interested in leadership. However, the teacher had assumed women could not beat men so she knew a man would top the class. The teacher said that the persons who would get the highest mark would become the class monitor and she attained the highest mark. Nevertheless, Chimada loved men since one of her closest friends was her brother.

Feminism was also taken to mean that one hates men. Nevertheless, she decided to pursue the course for she believed that women deserved a better recognition. Further, she was told feminisms were a western concept, which she should avoid at all costs. However, she instead called herself a happy feminist (Hooks 67). Consequently, they critiqued the concept of men since they could not rhyme. In the definition of one man, Chimada was asked not to be a feminist because feminists were women who were very unhappy because they lacked and could not find husbands (Ngozi). Besides, she also wrote a novel later in life, expressing how women were oppressed, and as a result, the novel was called a feminist by the people in the society.

Chimada says that his brother was the first person to call her a feminist and not in a friendly manner. However, women like Chimada who speak out on the inequality are called feminists. Consequently, it reserves some posts for men in the assumption that women cannot perform the said tasks.
